For the first time in 2018, Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace, Jr. will pull double duty. Wallace will compete in both the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Kansas Speedway.
The Kansas race weekend is already a big one for the Mobile, AL native as it marks the debut of World Wide Technology on the famous No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Richard Petty Motorsports in the KC Masterpiece 400 Cup race.
Now Wallace will also drive the No. 20 Andy’s Frozen Custard Chevrolet Silverado for Young’s Motorsports in the Truck Series race, the 37 Kind Days 250.
Wallace has 45 career starts in the Truck Series with six career victories. He also has 15 top-fives, 27 top-10s, and three pole positions. Wallace’s best finish in the Truck Series Championship Standings was third in 2014. In his only start last year last year, he went to victory lane at Michigan International Speedway for MDM Motorsports.
“I am really excited to have Bubba come over and drive for us this week,” said team President, Tyler Young. “He has so much experience in the Truck Series and always does a great job. We’re looking forward to a solid weekend.”
It will be Wallace’s third Kansas Truck Series race and first race at the 1.5-mile Tri-Oval since the 2014 season. In his two previous starts at the track, he has a best finish of seventh in 2013.
“I always enjoy racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and am thankful for this opportunity with Young’s Motorsports,” said Wallace. “Kansas is a fast and fun track and I am ready to put our Andy’s Frozen Custard Chevy to the test.”
In NASCAR’s Premier Series, Wallace currently sits 22ndin the Championship Points Standings, currently 48-points outside the Playoffs. He is also 32-points behind fellow Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender William Byron.
Now Wallace will look to try to repeat his Michigan results from last year in Friday night’s Truck Series race.
